TV Answer Man, will the streaming services offer discounts again for the Black Friday sale this year? Specifically, looking for a deal on Paramount Plus. – Frank, Burke, Virginia.

Frank, I have good news for you. Roku has announced that on November 25 that it will offer both the $7.99 a month Paramount Plus Essential plan and the $12.99 a month Premium plan for $2.99 a month for two months. The device maker says the reduced price will be available to new Paramount Plus users, but the streamer in the past has provided discounts to both new and returning customers so we’ll see if that continues.

Also, if Roku is offering Paramount Plus for a discount next week, the odds are good that you will be able to get the streaming service for a reduced rate on other platforms such as the Paramount Plus web site and Amazon’s Prime Video service.

But what about other streamers which traditionally offer their plans for sharp discounts during the Black Friday sale?

The only confirmations we have so far again come from Roku which says that from November 21 through December 1, it will offer its $2.99 a month Howdy streaming service for 99 cents per month for two months and the $6.99 a month Frndly TV service for 99 cents per month for three months.

However, I expect that other streamers such as Hulu, HBO Max, Peacock and Disney Plus will provide Black Friday discounts by next week, if not sooner. (Netflix is not likely; the streamer has refrained from participating in Black Friday deals.) Amazon’s Black Friday sale begins on Thursday, November 20 so it’s possible the etailer will offer some streaming deals as early as then.

The TV Answer Man will monitor this situation and report back here if we get more details on streaming discounts.

Until then, happy viewing and stay safe!
