NFL Sunday Ticket: Will YouTube Give You a Refund?

TV Answer Man, I saw your article that YouTube is offering a discount to the NFL Sunday Ticket for military personnel. The problem is that I already subscribed. Can you unsubscribe and get a refund so I can resubscribe and get the military rate? — Donnie, San Diego.
Donnie, I have received several e-mails like this since I reported that YouTube is now allowing military personnel and veterans to pay just $199 for the 2024 Sunday Ticket — and there is no requirement to purchase YouTube TV. The $199 is the straight price for the YouTube Primetime Channels edition.
If you previously ordered the Ticket for as much as $479 (via Primetime Channels), and you are or were in the military, the special rate must look pretty good. But Google, which owns the two YouTube services, says there will be no refunds on the 2024 NFL Sunday Ticket. Once you order, you pay.
The company agreed to pay $2.2 billion a year for the Ticket rights and it needs all the subscriber revenue it can get (and keep). And as for cancelling and signing up immediately thereafter with a military rate or a discounted promotional plan, I would suggest you contact YouTube’s Sunday Ticket support team first and ask. While the company’s policy is that you can’t cancel after ordering — even for a promotion — it’s worth asking. In fact, I’ve seen a few Ticket subscribers say on social media that they were permitted to do so when they inquired. But we don’t know if that’s true.
Donnie, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
