TV Answer Man, do you know if YouTube has discounts for military personnel and college students? It’s pretty expensive right now. — Jake, Phoenix.
Jake, I feel your pain. YouTube last week raised the price of the 2024 NFL Sunday Ticket by $30, bringing the price for the You Tube TV bundled edition to $379 and the YouTube Primetime Channels standalone version to $479. While there are a few ways to slice those prices slightly, the best deals available are for military personnel and college students.
YouTube is now allowing military personnel and veterans to pay just $199 for the 2024 Sunday Ticket — and there is no requirement to purchase YouTube TV. The $199 is the straight price for the YouTube Primetime Channels edition.
The offer, which is good until October 15, 2024, is available to eligible U.S. active military and veteran customers in the United States who have not yet subscribed to NFL Sunday Ticket for the 2024 season. To get the discount, you must verify your military status at ID.me. Here’s the link.
In addition, YouTube says at its web site that the student plan is $199 this year and $209 for the bundled plan with the NFL RedZone included. (That’s increase from $109 and $119 respectively in 2023.)
YouTube says student status verification is required to be eligible for purchase. (Here’s the page where you can verify your college status.) With a student plan, Sunday Ticket access is limited to one device at a time and family sharing is not included. With the military plan, you get unlimited streams at home.
Student and military plans for the NFL Sunday Ticket can only be purchased on YouTube Primetime Channels, but once purchased you can watch on either YouTube or YouTube TV.
Jake, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
