Amazon Prime Video New Releases October 2026:
The streaming service will add 136 new TV shows and movies in October 2026. The new additions include a diverse mix of classic films, recent theatrical releases, live sports and Amazon original series. TV For Seniors has scanned the Amazon aisles and picked the three best new Amazon titles in October for older viewers:

Best New Amazon Titles For Older Viewers In October 2026

Wuthering Heights (2026)
When to Watch: October 1
What Kind of Movie: Historical Drama
Who’s In It: Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi
Margot Robbie and Euphoria (HBO) heartthrob Jacob Elordi star in this retelling of the classic 1847 same-named novel by Emily Brontë. You probably know the story: the Yorkshire Moors, Heathcliff, Cathy, class, revenge and a toxic (not quite a 1847 term!) romance that leaves everyone in despair. I haven’t seen the 2026 Wuthering Heights, but the reviews are decent with lavish praise for the leads. Older viewers who are familiar with previous adaptions (including one starring Laurence Olivier) should find this one intriguing as well.

Poldark (Season One) (2015)
When to Watch: October 1
What Kind of Show: Historical Drama
Who’s In It: Aidan Turner, Eleanor Tomlinson
British soldier Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) comes home to Cornwall after fighting against the Colonial States in the American Revolution. His father is dead, the mine is closed, the house is a wreck, and the woman he planned to marry is engaged to his cousin. And you thought you were having a bad day! The BBC series, which ran for five seasons from 2015 to 2019, should be catnip for older viewers who love history; it’s a rare depiction of a British soldier’s life after the American Revolutionary War. (Usually we get the stories of the Americans as they build their new country.) And Poldark captured numerous British TV awards including the prestigious ‘Audience Award’ at the 2016 BAFTA TV Awards.

The Godfather and The Godfather, Part II (1972 and 1974 respectively, counting as one)
When to Watch: October 1
What Kind of Movies: Crime Drama
Who’s In It: Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton
Arguably the two greatest films ever, not just among those being added to Amazon Prime, Director (and co-writer with Mario Puzo) Francis Ford Coppola paints a cinematic masterpiece in each film, chronicling the rise of the Corleone crime family from its early immigrant roots at the turn of the 20th Century to its powerful reign in 1950s and 60s America. The cast is one to die for, pun intended, with Marlon Brando somehow even eclipsing his greatest roles in the 1950s (On the Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire) as family head Vito Corleone and a here-to-then unknown named Al Pacino as his son, Michael Corleone, who’s corrupted by family loyalties and power. And there’s the supporting crew. James Caan. Robert Duvall. Diane Keaton. John Cazale. Sterling Hayden. Robert DeNiro (!). My goodness, I can talk about these movies all day long. Amazon is also adding the third film in this trilogy but you can skip it unless you’re a completist type.

Good News For Sports Fans
Sports fans should also note that Amazon Prime will exclusively stream Thursday Night Football games throughout the month and a NBA game on October 30.
