TV Answer Man, do you when Notre Dame will next be in 4K? We really like the games in 4K and my husband went to Notre Dame a few years back. A few years, LOL. — Jen, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Jen, as you may know, NBC offers an upscaled 4K broadcast of Notre Dame college football home games. And the next game in upscaled 4K will be this Saturday, September 21, when the Fighting Irish hosts Miami of Ohio at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Notre Dame, which is 17th ranked with a 2-1 record, has a whopping 96.7 percent of winning against the 0-2 RedHawks of Miami of Ohio, according to the ESPN Matchup Predictor.
NBC and Peacock will simulcast the game in high-def, but it will not be available in 4K on Peacock’s streaming service.
Where can you watch the game in 4K?
YouTube TV, DIRECTV and DIRECTV Stream have all confirmed they will provide the contest in the format on their special 4K channels. There may be more providers so check your on-screen guide for details.

Note that upscaling 4K is the process when one video format is converted to another. Fox, ESPN and NBC take the 1080p HDR signal and convert it to a 4K format. Upscaling 4K is not considered as good as native 4K, but the picture generally is more vivid and detailed than a 1080p HD image.
Jen, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
