DIRECTV vs. Disney: What Are Subscribers Saying?

As the DIRECTV-Disney carriage dispute enters its second day, the feeling of frustration within the DIRECTV audience seems to be escalating, according to social media posts. There are thousands and thousands of angry comments with some subscribers blaming DIRECTV for the blackout of the Disney channels which began Sunday night while others blame Disney. And some viewers are blaming both companies.

Here is a sampling of comments from the social media site, X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Right or wrong on Disney’s part, they are going to bankrupt @DIRECTV  and with the BS Direct pulled last night, they deserve it. They just pulled the plug with no warning to millions of customers. I’ve got new service coming, I’m sure there are thousands of others too,” wrote @ggabefootball.

“So @DIRECTV  if you do not settle the contract dispute with Disney @espn we will terminate your service after almost 20 years!!! Enough already!” writes @ChopperKat.

“So I can’t watch the game on ESPN tonight. I’m paying @DIRECTV  Stream for content I can’t use. And the kicker is I also pay @Disney  for @espn  plus but can’t use it without a cable provider. What the actual… Ridiculous,” says @Courage04R.

“Come on @DIRECTV @espn  and @Disney  can we stop punishing the consumer? You’ve ruined the US Open for millions of viewers. Can we think about them and get this resolved today?” writes ‘Doggal.’

“Just sick of it. We never got a partial refund last year or even a sorry. Then it all happens again like clockwork. Both entities are greedy. Disney, ESPN, and ABC are woke Leftist political trash now anyway. All that was redeeming was Saturday football. Now gone,” says ‘Candice Weatherby.’

“Direct TV is garbage. No point in having it now that they’ve lost Sunday Ticket.” posted @davidbovey.

“As far as I’m concerned DirecTV and Disney both suck and both companies are handling their dispute like high schoolers. They are BOTH putting money over their customers, no matter how much both sides want to point the other finger at the other.” writes the ‘BeltwayBull.’

“It’s Disney that’s the greedy one. They’re wanting more money for the new contract and DIRECTV is trying to keep the increase as low as possible… The same thing will happen to you with YouTube TV when Disney does the same thing to them in the near future,” says @SoonerTweeter.

“It’s actually both parties… DirecTV in fact has been pretty open about wanting a deal similar to what Spectrum got last year yet Disney wants them to pay more for their line-up. I also bet the Venu joint venture Disney was part of also played a role because they were bitter,” writes @sparkz_Ent

“@DIRECTV  I expect a partial refund for EVERY SINGLE DAY until this Disney contract is renewed. This is absurd. Not being able to watch channels on your channel listing is completely UNACCEPTABLE!” says @estarr10.

The TV Answer Man will continue to monitor the dispute and report back here if anything significant changes.
