September 1, 2026

Movie fans, rejoice! That is, if you subscribe to Paramount Plus. The streamer today added 120 new movie titles including some blockbuster hits and award winners. TV For Seniors has scanned the list of new additions and selected the three best new Paramount Plus movies for older viewers.

3 Best New Paramount Plus Movies For Older Viewers

Rocky (1976)
Who’s In It: Sylvester Stallone, Apollo Creed, Talia Shire
What Kind of Movie: Sports Drama
Sylvester Stallone plays the loveable pugilist, Rocky Balboa. The original is the best of the multi Rockys over the years with Sly playing the fighter as a flawed everyman who just wants a chance to hit it big. Carl Weathers is a treat as his nemesis, Apollo Creed (clearly modeled after Muhammad Ali), while Burgess Meredith, Burt Young and Talia Shire make up the colorful cast. This is catnip for older viewers, particularly sports fans who have watched Stallone’s progression as an actor and filmmaker over the years. The Rocky saga has become part of the American lore. (Note: Paramount Plus today has added all six Rocky films as well as the three Creed films starring Michael B. Jordan.)

Dunkirk (2017)
Who’s In It: Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Harry Styles, Kenneth Branagh
What Kind of Movie: Historical Action/Drama
Directed by Christopher Nolan (Oppenheimer, The Odyssey), the film is a gripping retelling of the courageous evacuation of British forces from Dunkirk during World War II. Dunkirk is a masterclass in creating tension from a simple but inspiring tale. Classic Nolan. Older viewers, particularly history buffs, will appreciate Nolan’s attention to detail in the depiction of this incredible story.

Se7en (1995)
Who’s In It: Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow
What Kind of Movie: Thriller
It’s hard to believe that this film is now three decades old! Director David Fincher’s excellent neo-noir thriller stars Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman as detectives searching for a serial killer who’s obsessed with the Seven Deadly Sins. The 1995 movie is an early peek at the brilliance of Fincher and you don’t want to miss the powerful performance of the guy who plays the killer. (No spoilers here.) Older viewers, particularly crime drama fans, will become absorbed in this gripping drama.
