Hulu to Add 87 New Releases This Week: The 3 to Watch

The TV Answer Man – Buy Me a Coffee!

Hulu this week (January 26-February 1, 2026) will add 87 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

Memory Of a Killer (Premiere Episode)
When to Watch: Monday, January 26
What Kind of Show: Drama
Who’s In It: Patrick Dempsey, Michael Imperioli
Following the NFC title game on Sunday, Fox execs are giving a tush push to this new dramatic series starring Patrick Dempsey as a hitman in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. The football lead-in should guarantee a BIG audience. (Hulu streams the show on Monday so you can catch it tomorrow in case you miss it on Fox.) Dempsey, perhaps best known as the ‘sexiest man alive’ from his turn in the soapy Grey’s Anatomy, gets a chance to show his serious acting chops here. Michael Imperioli, who played Christopher in The Sopranos, supports as the hitman’s employer and longtime friend. Will Memory of a Killer hit its mark or misfire? Stream in.

American Idol (Season 9 Premiere)
When to Watch: Tuesday, January 27
What Kind of Show: Reality/Competition
Who’s In It: Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, Ryan Seacrest
Hulu will also get next-day rights to Monday’s airing of the American Idol season nine premiere on ABC. Ryan Seacrest is back as host with the returning judges (noted above) ready to impart wisdom, and vicious verdicts, to the singing hopefuls.

When Harry Met Sally (1989)
When to Watch: Sunday, February 1
What Kind of Movie: Romantic Comedy
Who’s In It: Billy Crystal, Meg Ryan, Carrie Fisher, Bruno Kirby
Director Rob Reiner (RIP) may have cribbed a bit from Woody Allen’s Annie Hall, but When Harry Met Sally is still a funny and sweet comedy about the frailties and fickleness of falling in love. Billy Crystal (arguably his best role ever) and Meg Ryan are charming and comedic pitch perfect as the leads and Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby are a delight in support.
